I'm Back!

The first day of spring of 2008, our hero Henry came out! It was 80 degrees out today so I dunked him in his water and gave him his favorite snack... a juicy red strawberry! Once we can afford a new camera, we will have Henry on live. We are hoping to have a live fed up very soon.

We have just purchased the domain of henrytheturtle.com

Today Jean was on a Canadian TV show called THE LAB WITH LEO. It will air as episode #72 in the next few weeks. Jean was asking about a wireless outdoor webcam that we can use in Henry's pen so he can get on the internet again. The webcam will run about $200 total so it should be up soon. I will be getting video through stickcam.com and I hope it will be up before I go back to work in September.

Back to work

Henry has been back at full speed for the last 2 weeks. Since spring break is over he goes back to his favorite noisy classroom!

Dedicated to Henry

I have a computer dedicated to Henry's webcam. That way the camera will not freeze up after I play my stress releiving Battlefield2 game. I will also use this computer when Henry goes back to the classroom with me. My school computer stops after a reboot expecting someone to hit the prompts for it's Novell network, Henry's computer will just plain reboot and keep on working.

Henry should be back in the classroom about the end of Feburary.

We have been having record rainfall here in Sacramento. Our local news reported we were at 172% of normal the other day. I was staring to get worried about our local turtle polulation with all of our flooding. I am happy to report, that not only Henry but other local turtles (this is from their owners mind you) have not gone into hibernation this year as in previous years. Even outdoor turtles are up and about due to the warm southern winds.

It looks like Henry is safe along with most turtles in this part of California. Lets hope it stays that way!

Home until what-ever

Henry will be home with me until mid-March or so. I can't stand him being alone on those 3-day weekends. And he is not a well traveled turtle!

Henry will spend the Thanksgiving break back home with me. I will make sure he has a webcam on him ;)

Well rest time it over for Henry. I'll be taking him in to my classroom (at my new school) on Monday. Henry actually like being with the kids, he tends to ham things up and the kids love it.

Outside habitate

We just picked up Henry aLil Tikes treasure chest (couldn't find the turtle sandbox) as an outside habitate. If he is out of his cage then that's where he will be, most likely day time most days. It is still too cold to have him out there at night time. Don't worry he will be protected by a net. He will also have a camera on him as soon as we can afford a wireless camera.

On Summer break

Henry is now back home for the summer. He will soon move to an outside habitate for more room and natural sunlight. I am picking up a little tikes turtle sandbox and will modify that to create Henry's new home.

Back at our house for spring break

Henry will be back at our house for a week while I'm on spring break. Like me he has been resting most of the time. Our classroom has been noiser than usual!

Henry is now safe and back in his luxury digs at school. The kids were excited to see him back, and he has been very active indeed!

Getting better all the time

Henry has gained an ounce during his time at home. He seems to be becoming more active again, active enough to take him back to his bigger tank in our classroom!

A lot to learn about turtles!

I guess I still have a lot to learn about being a turtle owner! Henry is back on heat and hopefully he will get back to regular activities around Valentines day. He will be monitored at home to make sure he is ready to return to my classroom and the kids that love to see him.

Fake deep freeze

I will use this blog to keep all of Henry's fans updated!

I made some recent modifications to his tank since he refused to hibernate in his large box.

1- a 3com homeconnect camera that was given to us when we were audience members on Tech TV's The Screen Savers. It was a good camera back then, and is a fantastic low light camera now!

2- Frozen water bottles will be added to his tank to keep the temperature where it should be.

3- This blog to keep people updated on the shelled one.
